On May 15, 2026, a team of four pharmacists and three support staff from our pharmacy visited Sunshine Senior Living Center, a long-term care facility serving 120 elderly residents. The visit was part of our monthly "Pharmacy Cares" outreach program.
Personalized Medication Counseling: Our pharmacists met one-on-one with 35 residents to review their current medication regimens, explain potential side effects, and answer questions about drug interactions.
Pillbox Organization: Volunteers helped 50 residents organize their weekly pillboxes, ensuring the correct medications were placed in the right slots for morning, noon, evening, and bedtime doses.
Expired Medication Collection: We collected 12 pounds of expired and unused medications from residents' rooms and transported them back to our pharmacy for safe disposal.
Bingo & Refreshments: After the health services, we hosted a fun bingo game with small prizes and served healthy snacks. The room was filled with laughter and smiles.
Mrs. Eleanor Thompson, an 82-year-old resident, told our team: "I take 9 different pills every day, and sometimes I get confused. Having the pharmacist sit with me and explain everything made me feel so much more confident. And the bingo was just wonderful."
